We will begin with a proper chat about your wedding, your ideas, your budget and anything you are unsure about. Your stylist will then choose a considered selection of dresses for you, help you into each one and use your honest reactions to guide what comes next.
Our complimentary Classic appointment lasts 90 minutes, including Saturdays, for the bride and up to four guests. Every bridal appointment includes a private suite and a dedicated stylist. Come with an open mind and a small number of trusted guests. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want.
Why it can feel daunting, and why it does not need to
Most brides have never tried on a wedding dress before. The combination of the occasion, the investment, and the expectation that you should somehow already know what you want can make the whole thing feel more high-stakes than it needs to be.
The truth is that no good stylist expects you to arrive with a clear vision. That is the entire point of the appointment. Your job is simply to show up honestly and keep an open mind. Their job is to ask the right questions, listen carefully, and use what they learn to pull a selection that is genuinely tailored to you. The best outcomes almost always come from brides who trusted the process rather than arriving with a rigid idea they refused to move from.
What actually happens, from start to finish
The conversation before you try anything
A good first appointment does not start with dresses. It starts with a conversation, and it is one of the most important parts of the whole session.
Your stylist will want to know about your wedding: where it is, when it is, what kind of day you are planning, and what the overall feel will be. A relaxed outdoor ceremony in a walled garden calls for something very different to a formal evening reception in a city hotel. Knowing the context changes everything about what to look at.
They will also ask about your vision for your dress. If you have been collecting images, bring them. If you have deliberately avoided looking at anything and have no idea where to start, that is equally useful information. You do not need a perfect mood board. It is useful to know your approximate wedding date and comfortable budget, and to bring the people whose opinions matter to your decision. Your stylist is not judging your Pinterest board or the lack of one.
Budget will come up too. This is not a conversation to feel awkward about. Knowing your range means your stylist can focus your time on dresses that are genuinely achievable, rather than building excitement around something you cannot commit to. Be honest, even if the number feels modest. A good stylist will work with whatever you share.
What trying dresses actually feels like
Once your stylist has a sense of what you are looking for, they will pull a selection. This is a considered edit based on your conversation, not a random collection of everything in your size. It might be five dresses, it might be eight. Quality of selection matters far more than quantity.
Getting into each dress takes a little time, and your stylist will be right there helping you. They will fasten everything properly and clip or pin the back so the fit is as close as possible to what a made-to-order dress would look like on your body. Please do not judge a dress before it has been properly adjusted. Almost every dress looks completely different once it is fitted correctly, and a great stylist will make sure you see it at its best before you form an opinion.
Once you are in the dress, take a moment before you look in the mirror. How does it feel? How does it move when you walk? Can you imagine wearing it for hours? These questions matter just as much as the visual. Then look. And tell your stylist honestly what you are feeling, including the things that are hard to put into words. "Something about it does not feel like me" is genuinely useful feedback. So is "I love the top but the skirt is not right." The more honest you are, the better the next selection will be.

Sample sizes: what they mean for your appointment
This is something that catches brides out more than almost anything else, so we want to explain it clearly before you arrive.
You are trying a showroom sample, which may not be in the standard designer size you would order. The sample available depends on the style, and its fit can be quite different from the final gown after alterations. This means that depending on your size and the dress you fall in love with, the fit in the fitting room can vary enormously.
None of this should put you off. It is simply worth knowing so that you are not thrown by it in the fitting room. Your stylist will always manage your expectations clearly and make sure you are seeing each dress in the best possible light, whatever the sample size.
What to wear and bring
How the appointment finishes
Our Classic appointment is 90 minutes. Blushing Bride and Bride Tribe & Bubbles are two hours, and VIB Luxe is three hours. We plan the session around the time reserved for your appointment. At the end, your stylist will talk through what you tried together: what worked, what did not, and what the appointment taught them about your taste. This debrief is genuinely useful, and it is the foundation for everything that comes next.
If you find a dress you love and want to say yes to, then the celebrating begins. There is time to enjoy the moment. If you have chosen Blushing Bride, prosecco or cocktails are part of the experience; other celebration details depend on the appointment you book. Once the excitement settles, your stylist will take your measurements and check sizing with the designer to confirm which size to order for you specifically. You will also cover the important details: delivery timelines, any accessories you might want to consider, and storage options for when your dress arrives in store. Wedding dresses are usually paid for in full when ordering, although we also offer a 50/50 payment option and third-party finance, subject to the provider's terms and eligibility. Alterations, delivery and storage are charged separately. We will explain the arrangements before you commit.
If you find your dress during your first appointment, you do not have to wait simply because it is your first visit. If you leave without having said yes, your stylist will summarise what the appointment revealed about your taste and talk through what the next step looks like for you. There is no pressure and no countdown. This is your decision and your timeline, and we will work around both.
We do welcome brides who visit without an appointment, and you are always welcome to come in and browse the rails. However, our appointments run throughout the day and our stylists are dedicated to the brides they are with. If the showroom is busy, there may not be someone available to give you the time and focus a proper appointment deserves.
